Hey Friends!
It has been some time since I’ve posted a blog, but after a very busy 2023, I needed some down time. It was wonderful getting to witness and document so many couples profess their love for one another! One of my personal clients this year was Sam & Kevin. They had their wedding at the wonderful Revel 32 in Poughkeepsie, NY. It was a very wet, rainy fall day, but the inside of the building was a glamorous Gatsby theme. Most importantly, the day was filled with tons of love, joy and fun! Here is a little more about this amazing couple and some highlights from their special day!
How/Where did you meet?
We met at Red Mills Pub in Mahopac. I was waitressing, Kevin came in with his brother (who was the Best Man, Ryan) to get some wings while he was home on leave from the Navy. I was their waitress and well… that was 13 years ago last week lol.
What made you sure that you wanted to get married?
A LOT happened over the years since we met until we started dating this last time. We kept in touch most of the time, but lost touch sometimes as well. We just always came back to each other. Circumstances changed often, but he was always the one I kept going back to- that I always wanted to talk to and share things with.
How did he propose?
We were on a trip to Savannah with our friends (my best friend Amanda- the maid of honor- and her husband Billy- who was one of the groomsmen). While walking to dinner he handed me a gift to open, which was a necklace, then got down on one knee and proposed with my great-grandmothers ring. Amanda surprised us both with a miniature photoshoot so we also got the moment on camera.
What are some of your favorite memories from your wedding day?
Dancing together for our first dance, and dancing with our friends later on. Our first dance was definitely “that moment” and it was everything I had dreamed it would be.
If you had some advice for couples planning their weddings now, what would it be?
Don’t get too caught up with the little things. Good food, drinks, music, and being surrounded by your loved ones is all you really need and all that really matters. The day is about the two of YOU, don’t worry too much about other people and what they think. And don’t skimp on good photography- after all, it is all you have left after the day is said and done to remember one of the most special days in your lives.
